Figueroa Chastises Rell for Response to UTC Comments
Hartford ─ "Weak" and "Misguided" is how Juan Figueroa is describing "Jodi Rell’s" response to UTC’s comments that the company is determined to move more of its work outside of Connecticut.
Figueroa, a Democrat currently exploring a run for governor, strongly criticized the governor today saying “When a spokesman for a company built by hard-working Connecticut families uses a phrase like "even if work has to stay in the United States, it’s an insult to the people of this state and to our entire country.” He added, “Our Governor should be accepting the previous invitation of UTC Chairman Chênevert to work with businesses large and small to rebuild our manufacturing base. And she should be working with our Congressional delegation to remove the tax and trade incentives which reward companies like UTC for sending American jobs to Singapore.”
“The bottom line,” Figueroa said, “is that as governor, I’d reward companies like UTC when they join us in a race to the top for Connecticut’s middle class. But I’d be quite clear and direct when their comments or their actions show disloyalty to the people and communities who have helped make them so successful.”
